Why choose a river table?

A river table is not a catalogue piece. It is a commission in functional art, born from a solid wood slab with natural live edges and a poured, tinted epoxy river. The result is a singular piece built to last for decades.

One-of-a-kind craftsmanship

Every river table that leaves our workshop is unique. Live-edge solid wood slabs vary from one plank to the next. The epoxy river is poured to your chosen color, translucency, and vision. No two pieces produced here are alike.

Quebec hardwoods with live edges

Felix works with Quebec hardwood species: black American walnut, white oak, and sugar maple. The natural live edges are preserved to let the original form of the tree speak. The epoxy inhabits that space rather than replacing it.

Custom-tinted, custom-poured epoxy

The epoxy river is formulated for your project: translucent metallic blue, deep black, forest green, or a natural tint. A protective topcoat seals the surface in your choice of matte, satin, or high-gloss finish.

Longevity across generations

A well-built river table in solid wood and cured epoxy is designed to pass through multiple generations. Solid wood deepens with age. Once polymerized, the epoxy is waterproof and resistant to everyday impacts.

Our process, from consultation to delivery

1

Consultation and vision

You describe your project: table format (dining, coffee, executive desk), preferred wood species, epoxy color and effect, number of rivers and their width. We discuss possibilities and technical constraints honestly.

2

Wood selection and design

Felix selects the solid wood slab to match your criteria: figure, grain, width, and live-edge profile. A sketch or a photo of the candidate slab is submitted for approval before fabrication begins.

3

Workshop fabrication

The table is built entirely in Saint-Siméon-de-Bonaventure. The wood is prepared, the epoxy poured in successive layers. Each layer is monitored, bubbles removed with heat, and the surface sanded between applications.

4

Finish and protection

After final sanding, one or two coats of polyurethane varnish or epoxy topcoat protect the surface. You choose the finish: natural matte, satin, or high-gloss. Legs are fitted and attached at the workshop or delivered separately depending on the configuration.

5

Delivery across Gaspésie and Bas-Saint-Laurent

We deliver your river table across Gaspésie (Bonaventure, Carleton-sur-Mer, Chandler, Maria, Percé, New Richmond) and Bas-Saint-Laurent (Rimouski and surroundings). Every delivery includes care instructions to preserve the surface for years to come.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to build an epoxy river table?

Depending on the complexity of the project, fabrication takes between three and six weeks. Tables with multiple rivers or multi-layer effects require longer drying time between pours. We provide a precise timeline at the initial consultation.

Can I choose any color for the epoxy river?

Yes. Epoxy resin is tinted with powder or liquid pigments to match your target color. Translucent, opaque, metallic, pearlescent: the options are wide. We produce a color test sample on request before the final pour.

Which wood species are available?

We work primarily with black American walnut, white oak, and sugar maple in live-edge slabs. Other species may be considered depending on availability. Live-edge slab inventory varies; contact us to learn what is currently in stock.

Is a river table resistant to water and impact?

Yes, once the epoxy is polymerized and the finish is applied. The surface is waterproof and resistant to light scratches. We recommend avoiding heavy impacts on the epoxy river edge and using trivets for hot containers.

Do you deliver outside Gaspésie?

Our primary delivery and installation zone covers Gaspésie and Bas-Saint-Laurent. For projects outside this area, contact us: depending on the table format and distance, delivery can be arranged with or without installation service.

How is a river table different from an epoxy countertop?

An epoxy countertop is a functional surface, designed for kitchens or bars. A river table is a work of functional art: the live-edge solid wood slab is the centerpiece, and the epoxy creates a strong visual effect within the natural gaps. The wood species used, the composition, and the level of craft distinguish the two products.
