Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions homeowners across Gaspésie ask us most often, before starting their custom cabinetry or furniture project.
What is Atelier Multidécor?
Atelier Multidécor is a custom cabinetmaking workshop based in Saint-Siméon-de-Bonaventure, Gaspésie, since 1994. Led by Félix Gagné, the workshop designs, builds, and installs kitchen cabinets, vanities, closets, and custom furniture, combining CNC machining with hand finishing.
Where are you located, and what is your service area?
Our workshop is at 169 Boul Perron Est in Saint-Siméon-de-Bonaventure. Full service (measurements, design, delivery, installation, and maintenance) covers the Baie-des-Chaleurs: Bonaventure, New Carlisle, Paspébiac, New Richmond, Maria, Carleton-sur-Mer. Elsewhere in Gaspésie (Chandler, Percé, Gaspé, Matane), and in Rimouski for larger projects, we work by request, case by case. Longer-range commercial and marine projects are also considered.
How long does a complete custom kitchen take?
Typically six to twelve weeks from consultation to installation, depending on project complexity and our current order book. You receive a precise timeline estimate at the initial consultation.
How do I get a quote?
Contact us through the form on our site or call 418-534-4167. We arrange a meeting to discuss your project and take measurements. The quote is free with no obligation.
What woods and materials do you use?
We build to measure in textured melamine, thermoplastic, polymer, and acrylic, contemporary finishes with a uniform, easy-to-maintain surface. Quebec hardwoods (American black walnut, white oak, cherry, sugar maple) are available for projects that call for them. For countertops: quartz, granite, and epoxy. Cabinet boxes never use particleboard.
How do you choose the right material for your cabinets in Gaspésie?
The right material depends on your project, your budget, and how the room is used. Melamine, thermoplastic, and polymer offer a uniform, durable, easy-to-maintain surface in a wide range of colours and textures, ideal for a contemporary kitchen or bathroom. Sealed solid wood, available on request, suits projects that want natural grain and a high-end presence. In every case, we build the boxes to the exact dimensions of your room, with no filler panels.
Do you do refacing or painting of existing cabinets?
No. We build new custom cabinets, from the box to the doors. Resurfacing existing cabinets is not part of our offering. If your project is a full replacement, we are your workshop.
What is the difference between Multidécor and big-box kitchens?
A big-box modular kitchen is assembled from standard melamine-MDF modules. At Multidécor, every cabinet is cut to the exact dimensions of your room, with no filler panels. Custom work uses every centimetre and lasts decades.
Do you install, or can I install it myself?
Both are possible. Our team installs your cabinets and handles on-site adjustments. If you prefer to install yourself, we provide complete self-installation instructions.
Do you take on commercial and marine projects?
Yes. We build custom cabinetry and furniture for businesses and institutions (schools, offices), delivered from our workshop; installation remains reserved for residential projects. We also build marine woodwork and boat interiors for sailboats.
What is your CNC service?
CNC machining is high-precision digital cutting. It lets us produce doors with exclusive patterns (bookmatch, geometric, floral), perfectly consistent cabinet boxes, and machined exterior signage. Hand finishing completes the precision of the machine.
Do you make epoxy countertops and tables?
Yes. We build epoxy kitchen and bar countertops, as well as river tables in live-edge solid wood and tinted epoxy resin. Each piece is unique: colour, inlays, and effect are defined with you.
