Why choose a custom walk-in closet?

A custom walk-in is not a piece of furniture you assemble on a Saturday afternoon. It is solid wood cabinetry cut to the millimetre of your walls, designed around your actual wardrobe. No filler panels, no dimension compromises.

Exact dimensions, zero filler panels

Modular systems like PAX or California Closets work in fixed increments. At Multidécor, the carcasses are built to your actual wall dimensions. No filler panel on the side, no gap above the cornice: every centimetre works for you.

Solid wood, not particleboard

Particleboard shelves soften under the weight of damp clothing and swell with humidity. Solid wood lasts thirty years. In coastal Gaspésie, where humidity is real, that is a concrete difference between a closet that ages well and one that sags.

Zones designed around your wardrobe

Before drawing a single shelf, we ask the right questions: how many long dresses do you own? Tall boots or hiking boots? Shirts folded or hanging? Your walk-in reflects your real life, not a generic planogram.

Property resale value

A solid-wood walk-in closet, integrated floor to ceiling, reads as a feature of the house at resale time. Buyers see it as permanent millwork, not furniture.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a custom walk-in closet and a modular system?

A modular system is assembled from pre-made components in fixed increments. A custom closet is built to the exact dimensions of your room: full ceiling height, true wall width, no filler panels. Solid wood replaces particleboard or melamine panels.

Do you also build dressing rooms and hinged-door wardrobes?

Yes. Open walk-in, sliding-door dressing room, hinged-door wardrobe, or hallway storage: the approach is the same. The carcass is custom-cut and solid wood is used throughout.

What wood species do you use for closets?

We work primarily with white oak, cherry, walnut, and knotty pine depending on the style. All wood is solid: no MDF or particleboard for shelves or structural carcasses.

Can you integrate accessories like jewellery drawers, valet hooks, or pull-out rods?

Yes. Lined jewellery drawers, valet hooks, pull-out rods, handbag shelves, tilted shoe storage: everything is integrated into the design from the start. We plan around your actual inventory.

How long does it take to build a custom walk-in closet?

Depending on the footprint and accessories, fabrication takes three to six weeks on average after the drawings are approved. Lead time may vary depending on the wood species and time of year.

Do you serve only Gaspésie?

Our workshop is in Saint-Siméon-de-Bonaventure. We primarily serve Gaspésie and Bas-Saint-Laurent. Some projects take us beyond that area: contact us to discuss your situation.
